for Kids

With clarity and care:
Our assessments cover autism, ADHD, cognitive and other mental health concerns, and help you understand the best next steps.

Autism, ADHD and developmental assessments for children

Our paediatric occupational therapists help children build the skills and confidence they need for daily life. They work closely with your child to identify challenges, and support them to become more independent over time.

Humanity Health Kids is an NDIS registered occupational therapy provider for children, but you can also book privately.
We work with families across cities and regional Australia, with occupational therapy services for kids available at home, at school, in the community, in one of our clinics, or via online sessions.

We align our fees with the NDIS price guide, so there are no additional gap fees for our clients.

Occupational therapy, built around your child

Our approach to paediatric occupational therapy is holistic and child-centred. We look at each child’s individual circumstances and preferences to build occupational therapy strategies suited to their goals and challenges.

Our occupational therapists work closely with children and their families, supporting progress in everyday tasks, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, thinking skills and social interactions.

How occupational therapy supports your child's development

Fine motor skills

At Humanity Health Kids we help children build fine motor skills for everyday tasks like grasping objects, writing with a pencil, typing, using utensils and managing clothing fasteners.

These skills support your child’s independence at home and at school. We work at your child’s own pace, building on small wins over time.

Visual motor skills

Visual motor skills help your child coordinate what they see with what they do, like copying from a whiteboard, cutting with scissors or drawing shapes.

This kind of hand-eye coordination supports learning and play. At Humanity Health Kids we use activities your child will find engaging, so practice doesn’t feel like a chore.

Adaptive tools and equipment

Some children benefit from adaptive or specialty tools like wheelchairs, dressing aids, pencil grips or communication devices.

At Humanity Health Kids we help identify the right tools for your child’s needs, and support your family in using them day to day. The right tool can make a real difference to a child’s confidence and comfort.

Emotional regulation

Our occupational therapists at Humanity Allied Health help children learn to identify their feelings and build strategies to manage big emotions.

This might include recognising early signs of frustration or overwhelm, and finding calming strategies that work for your child. Stronger emotional regulation can support your child at home, at school and in social situations.

Self-advocacy skills

We support children to build self-advocacy skills, like asking for help or expressing their needs.

These are skills your child can use across settings, not just in therapy. Building this confidence early can help your child navigate new situations as they grow.

Daily routines and transitions

At Humanity Health Kids we help children build fine motor skills for everyday tasks like grasping objects, writing with a pencil, typing, using utensils and managing clothing fasteners.

These skills support your child’s independence at home and at school. We work at your child’s own pace, building on small wins over time.

Sensory processing

Our occupational therapists help children find strategies to manage sensory overload, so they can take part more fully in activities at home, at school and in the community.

This might include adjusting the environment, or teaching your child ways to self-regulate.

At Humanity Health Kids we know: Every child’s sensory needs are different, so we tailor strategies to suit.

Learn to following instructions

Our therapists can support children to build the skills needed to follow multi-step instructions.

This is a skill that underpins learning, play and everyday tasks. We break instructions down into manageable steps, building your child’s confidence as they go.

Alternative and augmentative communication

For children who are non-verbal, we help create communication methods suited to their needs, such as visual supports or communication devices.

This can give your child a way to express themselves and feel understood. Communication support can open up new ways for your child to connect with others.

Healthy eating habits

We support children to build healthy eating habits, including addressing sensory-related eating challenges.

This might involve gradually introducing new textures or flavours, or working through mealtime anxiety. Our approach considers your child’s individual sensory profile, not a one size fits all plan.

Parent support and strategies

At Humanity Health Kids we work alongside parents, sharing practical techniques and strategies to support your child’s development at home. This helps skills learned in therapy carry over into everyday life. You know your child best, so we build strategies around what works for your family.

OT assessment for kids

Every child is different, so we start by getting to know yours.

Our occupational therapists carry out a functional assessment to understand your child’s strengths and the areas they might need support with. This looks at how your child manages daily tasks, play, movement, and sensory experiences.

We also offer formal diagnostic assessments, such as for autism or ADHD, to support a diagnosis or NDIS access. Whether your child needs a functional assessment to guide their therapy or a formal diagnostic assessment, our team can help.

From there, we build a therapy plan around your child’s specific goals and needs, so the support they receive is relevant to them and to your family.
